Sue Panepinto - Volunteering Is Her Passion!

Sue Panepinto.png

Sue Panepinto has been a steady force in the  ALL HANDS ON DECK! Show  family since we opened in Branson in 2016. We’ve watched her grace and love of people shine while she volunteered as an usher.
It was obvious to us that this quiet person with her calm demeanor had the ability to be a leader because she really listened to her coworkers and guests. We soon employed her as our House Manager and Sue continues to do this today, along with being Commander of the local DAV Auxiliary, and Secretary of the American Legion Auxiliary.

What makes Sue special? Many things, and it’s all built on the most impressive part, her joy in helping others. She truly believes in serving the community.

What made you want to volunteer, Sue? “Growing up, I watched my Mother volunteering in girl scouts, church, room mother in school, always helping others. It was what we did! No questions, just a part of our lives.” This gave Sue a strong sense of the world around her, she started teaching Sunday school in her church at age 13, while also becoming a Candy Striper at the local hospital where she grew up in Urbana, IL.

How do you and your husband, Tom, find the time for volunteering? “It’s who I am, we both WANT to help others, and I think we knew that when we first met in junior high school. When we married, Tom joined the Army, then the Illinois National Guard and it became his life career.”

Sue and Tom raised their own children, then included fostering and adopting children as well. While Tom worked away from the family, Sue volunteered and was in charge of a family support group. In 1990 Sue Panepinto was the only individual bestowed the Molly Pitcher Award, which recognized her to have voluntarily contributed in a significant way to the improvement of the Field Artillery Community.

In June, Sue was just beaming when she told us of a new volunteer position she accepted with Foresters Financial. Sue and Tom have been members in the organization since 1988 volunteering for many projects that are supported and funded by Foresters. Now, Sue has been elected as the Regional Council Vice President! This is a volunteer position steeped with responsibility where she will have the opportunity to help even more people in many different ways.

What makes the Foresters special? “The friends we’ve made throughout the years, they’re more like ‘family’ than anyone we know!”

This sounds like a very important position possibly with a lot of stress, are you worried about being overwhelmed? “I ran in the election with many years of volunteering behind me and the phrase I use again and again is: Will it matter in 10 years? If so it’s worth doing, if not, don’t sweat it.”

Your Show in Forrest City - Oct. 20, 2018

Subject: Your Show In Forrest City Oct 20

Message: You invited us all to respond -- so here I am! I've been in the music and entertainment business for 43 years as of July, so I've seen a lot of things on a lot of stages over the years. I was in Branson 25 years ago with Kenny Rogers at The Grand Palace, winning one of the biggest music competitions in the world, The Country Showdown. I've had more than my share of experiences on stage and television myself, and with that in mind....

Yours is one of the most outstanding shows I've attended anytime, anywhere! Your talent, choreography, music and show composition are absolutely superlative. The cast is as close to perfect as anyone could hope for, not only in performance but from a standpoint of physical features, costuming, stage presence, onstage moves and coordination that calls some of the great performers of that era to mind. During our evening with your show, you were able to weave pure magic and take us all back to a time we either lived or shared with our parents.

I'm 64 years old, so these were the childhood memories of my parents who shared them with me. I'm a great fan of the Greatest Generation, who some in this extreme age would dismiss with political discord. We need those values back, and many people yearn for a time when all of America was united against common… challenges, and put America first.

…For those at your show, we get a taste through music, dance and audio/visual display of a time we wish we could go back to in a time machine. You touched our hearts and made fans of us all. There is nothing else quite like your show, and I have but one word remaining --

BRAVO!

Best wishes,
Ricky T.

PS -- My wife and I came away from the show with an armload of things from your merchandise table, including the beautiful Cross created by Duff Madaras. To Jody, please give your father our blessings for something that will be cherished for many years to come, hanging proudly in our home on our wall of faith. It is one of the most unique and beautiful Crucifix renderings I've seen, and a wonderful reminder of the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless!

Kaleo Tours Makes a Stop at AHOD! Show

Recently, Kaleo Tours brought a group to the All Hands on Deck! Show, and they had nothing but rave reviews. Here's what they had to say:

Just wanted to say Thank You so much for hosting the Group Leaders this Friday afternoon. I asked each of the leaders to give an evaluation of all the shows and attractions we visited using a scoring of 1 - 5 with 5 being the best. Your show scored a 5 with the following comments, repeatedly:

WONDERFUL!
Perfect for the age of our groups.
Loved it!
Most professionally done show we have seen.
Knew the words to every song.
Could understand the words because the music was not too loud.
Brought back so many memories.
Thank you for reminding us.
My mother had those same dresses.
I grew up with all that music.
Other shows should visit yours and get a clue to tone down the band and let us hear the songs.
Great...we will be back!

Thanks again!

AHOD! Visits the ABA National Conference

Our own Ted Crosley and Betty Blake (Jody Madaras and Valerie Hill) recently attended the American Bus Association's national conference in Louisville, KY. We had a great time meeting friends, old and new, and taking advantage of all of the great events the conference had to offer.
